About this tour

Our tour begins with the arrival at the Sanctuary of Fatima where we immediately feel its energy. It is a space of pilgrimage and Catholic worship. It was erected in memory of the apparition of Our Lady of Fatima to the three shepherd children in 1917. Its construction began with the Chapel of the Apparitions, but currently has two more basilicas, due to the need to increase the reception area for pilgrims. The visit to the Sanctuary is only complete with a visit to the house of the little shepherds for a better historical background.

Around lunchtime we head to Nazaré, an old fishing village currently known for the place where the largest wave in the world was surfed with 30m high. Even for those who are not big fans of surfing, Nazaré has its charms with fish drying in the sun and varinas (fishermen's wives) selling to tourists who pass by.

The tour ends with the crown jewel, Óbidos, a walled medieval village that was a gift from King Dinis to his wife, Queen Isabel. Before we head back to Lisbon, how about a toast with the famous cherry liquor, Ginjinha de Óbidos, in a chocolate cup.

Excludes: Meals and entrance fees to monuments
